Great post Mae - I totally agree with everything in it. My own home town looks totally continental now and has lost all individualism..can't get moved for street cafes and gastro bars. We need more gunboats.
Ok thats nice, there are very legit criticism above on that video about their political culture @Maestro .
Meanwhile..elsewhere.. there are countries out there which lack real political opposition..You might even get shot on streets if you
disagree with the government or thrown in jail if you are lucky ( or unlucky )...
@Maestro many times there are injustice much closer home than you would think. Looking interviews like this really turns me against this guy and the system he runs. At least he answers honestly, but...
If only he would love freedom, who knows, he might even be truly great leader. He is not great revolutionary, but more like man of the system, whos first duty is to protect that system whatever the cost or whatever is the nature of that system.
Had it been him at the helm of soviet union when it started to crumble, there would have been war all over soviet union, and likely he would have won too. This guy is hardcore hardliner, with little tolerence to different view. This man would not have allowed *any* of the former soviet republic to gain their independency from that said state, the uprising would have been crushed bloodily. The baltics and other former 'republics' would still be under occupation of foreign people.
Didint mean to rant, but since you bring up all of these faults in western countries, sometimes there is reason to point up wrongs in elsewhere also, just for the balance, right .
