Hey there i'm new here, so sorry when i post something wrong. :)

I bought the game (SoF2) yesterday on gog and fixed the serverlist issue but i can't find a solution for my graphics problem. It looks like an anti aliasing fail. Here are 2 images for example, it isn't looking dramatical but only because of the small images, on my screen it's very annoying because of flickering.

I ask here because i play on your Server and i think my chance to find a solution is bigger here. '^-^

Any ideas? Thanks for your help. :/

( sorry for my english )

You are one of the few people that actually buy the game nowadays.
Most either have the old copy or got it through a download, as there is almost no place where you can get a copy and cuz there is no support on the game anymore.

Anyhow be aware that it's a game from the early 2000's, not really fit to be played on 4k, 2k, 1080p, 720p.
As far as i know that's how the game looks, and not really a glitch or bug in the game.

Thanks for your reply. I know its an old game and i play actually on 1024x768 because old games most time have problems with higher resolutions. So it is normal for this game? Then i have to live with it. '^-^

I'm prerry sure the game can be played on a higher resolution, at least to fit wider screens (16:9), i think 1280*768 or something
but I dont remember how its done, a patch or something? +tinkering with the graphics card settings 'fit to full screen'?
ask around, someone here might know and it will improve ur sof2 experience

And i think ur the first one in a really, realllly, realllllllly, honestly i cant emphasize enough the really, realllllllllllllllllllly long time to buy this game
    RESPECT!

(to whom it may concern: it costs 9.99$)

idk, i think the resolution is ok for me. Only the edge-formation/ antialiasing is a bit mehh. :/

Others like to visit a museum, i like to play old games. :D :p he no sry ( bad humor ) xD
Old game don't mean it must be bad, but i was wondering this one isn't dead. The most games are more than dead, no servers, only playable with vpn or there are simple no players. This game is fun to play despite the age. '^-^

Yeah, Henkie from 1fx created a widescreen patch.
1fx has their own download page and you can download some patches with it. http://1fxmod.org/clpatch/
Will enhance the screen resolution and look a little bit better, but still has that aliasing problem and stuff.

also saw on gog that sof2 is 10 us dollar, freaking expensive for a game that isn't supported at all besides the community and is like 18 years old (legal) by now.

Actually it seems quite a few people have bought sof and sof2 since it launched on GOG.com. But according to their forum it also seems like most bought it for a retro single player experience. Others struggle with setup to play online. Can't blame them though, you have to be quite the nerd with console cmds or config files to be competetive. A tough task for new players. What this game needs is a revival from the devs on steam with an easy setup and access to mods/maps.

On topic: My game looks pretty much like the pics op posted with every setting maxed out, I do not use the wide screen patch though as I couldn't get used to the fov it comes with. Hope you get it sorted to your liking.

widescreen doesn't change the fov as that's a completely diffirent setting.
It only changes the resolution, so instead of the "1024x768" you can change it to 1920x1080 or whatever other resolution you want to game to be as.

Oh I'm not talking about the setting /cg_fov. But been playing with a stretched 1600*1200 res for 10 years, and I guarantee the fov looks different in the widescreen patched exe file. But it's an entirely different subject yes.

yes, last post on their forum was from me and still no answer. That's why i was posting here. If you can read i think it isn't hard to setup the game/ config. I found tuts here and on a other pages, it's a little bit work.

if it looks not to streched and i can change back, i'll try it. ^-^

Go for it! You can always change back.

Btw the one I disliked is Squ1zZy_ResPatcher_SoF_2_MP. And it's only because I'm so used to something else. Maybe the one on 1fx is better :D

The 1fx one looks fairly normal, if you dont have the blackbars (playing on lower res) it would only look a little sharper.

I think i used the squizzy one, not sure tho. If its the one i recon it caused me a lot of fps drop.

    Hello,

I would recommend playing at the highest resolution possible. This will naturally reduce the size of the pixels and jagged edges.
I currently use a 2K monitor and have a resolution of 1600x1200 using the standard SoF2 exe.
Additionally you could force AA and other features via the graphics control panel for your card (ATI/Nvidia)

Squizzy's patch can cause FPS drops.
It's especially good when ur room is cold, as it can heat up your room pretty well at times. :D
